Appliance Bounty Program: Con Edison Utility Company

This 2008 report is a summary of Con Edison’s (a New York State utility company) appliance bounty program. Con Edison’s customers are able to dispose safely of their old or under-used refrigerators and room air-conditioning units in return for a rebate valued up to $100.

New York State has had much success with appliance bounty programs. This report outlines a basic framework and cost structure that could be useful for cities trying to work with their local utility to create a similar program.
