Global Status Report on Local Renewable Energy Policies: ICLEI

This ICLEI report provides an in-depth summary of local renewable energy policies worldwide, discusses the importance of local renewable energy policies and provides basic information to help decision-makers understand the opportunities and possibilities for renewable energy in their communities.

The report, broken into six sections, begins by discussing how local action can make a large difference in the deployment of renewable energy worldwide. The report goes on to discuss international, regional and national influences on local renewable energy initiatives and the types of local policies and activities that promote renewable energy. The report then surveys the local renewable energy policies in 160 cities and local governments around the world and provides local policy case summaries for thirty cities. Finally the report discusses further research that can be done to complete the report (as it is a work in progress).

This report provides a large amount of information for readers interested in developing policies to promote renewable energy in their community.
