Clean Transportation for New York State: A Long Road Ahead

Clean Transportation for New York State: A Long Road Ahead

This document was created by INFORM, Inc., a non-profit organization whose mission is to identify practical ways of living and doing business that are environmentally sustainable. The document summarizes the state of New York’s clean transportation plans.

INFORM, Inc. conducted research on the use of clean-fuel vehicles in New York and found that it is still minimal. The document presents initiatives by the Governor’s Office, including the Clean Water/Clean Air Bond Act and the ZEV Mandate, and by the State Legislature, including tax incentives and state-sponsored research institutes.

To conclude, INFORM, Inc. offers suggestions for New York State and City to introduce more AFVs to their roads through a “12-Step Program.” It presents present twelve actions that the state and city have taken and what they can do to improve upon those actions in the future.

This document offers very specific action items that a city’s mayor or sustainability officer can easily mimic and implement.
