Teaming Up to Save Energy: ENERGY STAR

Teaming Up to Save Energy: ENERGY STAR

Wise energy management can equal a stronger bottom line and be a valuable business asset.  This ENERGY STAR® guide focuses on establishing an energy management team, including team structure, launch, and maintenance.  Establishing an energy team is one of the first steps in building a larger ENERGY STAR framework to assist organizations in effectively assessing and reducing their energy use.

Examples from ENERGY STAR partner organizations and a checklist are provided to illustrate practices and help with implementation.

Topics covered include:

  • Organizing an energy team
  • Starting an energy program
  • Building capacity
  • Sustaining the team
  • Maintaining momentum

Although not addressed specifically to local governments, this guide provides a useful mix of step-by-step guidance, examples, and scenario-based solutions.  It builds on the well-known ENERGY STAR “Guidelines for Energy Management” and integrates other ENERGY STAR tools and resources throughout.  While intended for larger organizations, it is written in an accessible manner that also makes it useful for smaller institutions.
