Energy Efficiency Partnership Demonstration Project (Charleston, SC): Presentation
The Charleston Pilot City Team recently kicked off its SCI initiative with a 3-day charrette. SCI team members, partners, and stakeholders convened to begin the first steps for launching what will be called the Energy Efficiency Partnership Demonstration project (EEP Demo for short) dedicated to building the knowledge, awareness and workforce to enable a viable and lasting energy efficiency program in the Greater Charleston, SC area. The charrette included intensive planning meetings among key stakeholders to outline the implementation of the EEP Demo and issues surrounding the larger Energy Efficiency Partnership in Charleston, as well as two public meetings at the beginning and end of the charrette to present community members with the group's work and hear their feedback.
Over the course of the three days, the charrette teams (Technical Building Services, Marketing & Outreach, Executive Project Oversight) took on the task of refining the business model for the larger Energy Efficiency Partnership, understanding the role of the EEP Demo in accomplishing objectives of the Energy Efficiency Partnership and defining the key components to the EEP Demo project’s implementation. This overview was presented to the Charleston community at the conclusion of the charrette. It outlines the framework of what will ultimately become an operational plan for the Charleston EEP Demo project, and a basis for the larger Energy Efficiency Partnership in Charleston. Municipalities considering implementing similar energy efficiency measures can utilize this outline as a starting point in developing a program of their own.
