Sustainable Building Ordinance: Construction and Operations Components

Sustainable Building Ordinance: Construction and Operations Components

This outline provides a sound foundation on which policymakers may assemble a relevant local ordinance, and it allows for the quick identification of areas for investigation and inclusion.  Specifically, this portion of the ordinance outlines the construction and operational components of a Sustainable Building Ordinance.  It outlines requirements for construction and plans for operation of buildings constructed under the terms of the sustainable building ordinance. The intent is to verify the building and its systems are constructed, installed, and calibrated so that the building performs within the parameters established by the project requirements, basis of design and construction documents.

The process utilizes an integrated approach to the creation of a sustainable building ordinance.  It conveys ownership to and accountability from community stakeholders through emphases on building consensus among affected parties.

Significant leadership will still be required to review, identify, and to craft a strong ordinance and to secure its passage.
