Radon Resistant Construction Ordinance for Commercial Buildings

Radon Resistant Construction Ordinance for Commercial Buildings

This ordinance provides model language for mandating radon resistant construction for large (greater than 20,000 square foot) commercial buildings

The ordinance requires construction using one of the following methods:

  1. Soil Depressurization
  2. Building Pressurization
  3. Sealing Radon Entry Routes
This is an example of language for a commercial building ordinance provision. Similar building codes could be put in place for residential construction referencing the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Building Radon Out guidelines and the International Building Code Appendix F.
