Public Facilities Siting for Solar Access: Gainesville, FL

This ordinance discusses various requirements in landscaping, tree removal, site suitability and site design for public buildings in the City of Gainesville. In order to promote the use of solar energy in public facilities, the city requires that public facilities be sited to allow for proper solar access. In addition, the city permits the removal of a tree if the tree prevents the installation of solar energy equipment and the removal is approved by the city manager.
