Annual Report to City Council and Mayor. It is a formal presentation followed by a press release, web and public outreach.

Primarily funded through the general fund but also some grant funding and one-time funding.

Sustainability Officer Duties

Support city executive and senior management team in the design of overall strategy and process for the project
Maintain updated Sustainability Plan and Climate Action Plan
Oversee and maintain sustainability budget
Coordinate and lead City's Green Team
Develop criteria, policies and procedures for sustainable programs
Track and report about sustainability programs underway on a regular basis through the City's performance management program
Track, monitor, and report greenhouse gas emissions at the community level
Foster, develop, and launch projects in partnership with city departments and external stakeholders
Identify and secure funding resources from outside sources (ex. Federal grants) for projects
Represent the City at key meetings
Develop a multi-faceted communication strategy within the organization and the community to promote the City's efforts locally, statewide, and nationally to gain recognition

Mechanisms in Place for Long-term Sustainability

Sustainability Manager is not appointed or in the Mayors Office. It will continue because of codified City Council action setting directions, targets and policies. Sustainability is part of the Minneapolis urban context that has a strong vocal base.
