Three Greatest Accomplishments to Date:
1. Unanimous adoption of an ambitious climate protection plan by the Mayor and City Council.
2. Conversion of the City's fleet to alternative fuels: 50% of total vehicles operate on bio-diesel or CNG (and we're preparing for EVs).
3. $2 million reduction in annual energy costs from energy efficiency retrofits in City buildings.

City Sustainability Board: YES
Although not called a "Sustainability Board," the City has a public multi-stakeholder Environmental Management Commission that serves a similar role and has been a strong advocate for climate protection and sustainability. Commission Members are appointed by the Mayor for two to three year terms.

However, Kansas City conceived and developed its Climate Protection Plan as a foundation for sustainability. Additionally, "Sustainability in Kansas City: Where We Are and Where We're Going" provides information on how our elected officials view sustainability and specific initiatives underway.
