Three Greatest Accomplishments to Date:
1. Columbusgreenspot.org was developed as an education and engagement tool for businesses, residents and community groups. Participants sign up online, making a commitment to complete a variety of environmentally friendly tasks. Each site is then recognized as an official "GreenSpot" with a window-cling label. Sites are honored each year with the GreenSpotLight awards.
2. A strong leadership directive from the Mayor resulted in the design and implementation of a Green Fleet Action Plan to address the management, operation, and procurement of fleet vehicles under the control of the City resulting in significant air quality benefits for both the City of Columbus and the central Ohio region.
3. Based on the Enterprise Green Communities criteria, the City of Columbus partnered with Enterprise and Franklin County to publish the first edition of a manual adopted to set a performance standard for the construction and renovation of federally funded residential projects. AWARE stands for Accessible, Water Conservation, Air Quality, Resource Conscious and Energy Efficient. The manual will provide residents in central Ohio with housing that is healthier, more accessible, resource conscious and environmentally friendly.

City Sustainability Board: YES
The Sustainability Board is comprised of both internal city departments and public stakeholders. Internal members are assigned by each city department. Public members are appointed by the Mayor. The term of each member is indefinite.

City Sustainability Plan: YES

Climate Action Plan: NO
Green Memo II guides our work and sets goals for a five year time period. Departmental objectives such as the Green Fleet Action Plan will be incorporated into the future design of a Climate Action Plan.

Green Building Ordinance: YES
We do not have a formal ordinance, but it is an internal policy that all new City owned buildings are developed to LEED Certified standards or above. In addition, our AWARE manual sets guidelines for the construction of all federally funded homes in Columbus and Franklin County.
