U.S. Drinking & Ground Water Statistics for 2008

This document provides data concerning the 155,000 public drinking water systems for 2008 in the United States. In addition, data on the types and locations of underground injection control wells are also included as well as compliance statistics.
A brief summary of the data is given followed by 14 pages of tables listing information about the drinking water systems in the United states. Tables group water systems into categories that show their similarities and differences. For example, the first table shows that most people in the US (292 milion) get their water from a community water system. Statistics are taken from the Safe Drinking Water Information System/Federal version (SDWIS/Fed). Compliance statistics are based on violations reported by states to the EPA Safe Drinking.
This document is appropriate for those readers who wish to learn more about their drinking water systems in their state or region and compare that to drinking water systems throughout the United States. Readers can also learn more about the number of and type of violations found throughout the state.
