Blue Suede Brigade: Downtown Ambassadors on Foot
Memphis' Center City Commission (CCC) employs greeters to facilitate pedestrian movement on Main Street. In keeping with Memphis' identity as a music destination, the greeters are known as the Blue Suede Brigade.
Brigade members primarily act as ambassadors. Secondary duties include forwarding information about litter or questionable activity to proper authorities for improvement. The Brigade works seven days a week,10-12 hours a day.
The Brigade enhances the downtown experience with a light and friendly presence. It is an important source of information for tourists. The Brigade is a foot patrol and has no adverse environmental impact.
