Transit-Oriented Development (TOD): Briefing

Transit-oriented development, or TOD, is an approach to development that focuses land uses around a transit station or within a transit corridor. This 30 briefing provides the rational and approach to integrating a TOD philosophy into the land use framework by introducing or changing local zoning regulations and city planning documents that support TOD-style projects.
The following template provides the framework for a one page executive summary of a proposed policy or initiative to a Mayor, City Manager, or other Chief Executive. It is important to note that this template is offered only as a starting point. Sustainability Officers will need to customize this briefing document to reflect the specific conditions and data of their local communities and proposals.
