Transportation: Sunday Streets: a cool idea

Kyle Smith ● September 26, 2011, 02:45 PM UTC

I recently heard about a cool concept in San Francisco called Sunday Streets, during which major streets are blocked off to traffic and used to promote alternate and healthy modes of transportation - walking, biking, and the like.  Check it out here:

I think that this is a great concept that encourages alternate transportation in a neighbor-ly kind of way.  And it's good for kids, too.  What do you think?  Would this concept work in your community?
